You need the Claude Code CLI (
claude --version
). The kit’s hooks run on your machine’s
python3
, version 3.9 or newer; the macOS system Python qualifies. On an older interpreter the hooks do nothing and the session warns you once.

Install in Claude Code#

The marketplace name is
hiway-kit
:

/plugin marketplace add This-HW/hiway-kit
/plugin install hiway-kit@hiway-kit

To update later, refresh the marketplace and the new version is picked up:

Concepts

The current release ships 15 agents, 15 skills and 12 rules. This page explains what they are for. Paths are relative to
plugins/common/
in the hiway-kit repository.

Native first#

Claude Code already has agents, skills, hooks, workflows, telemetry and memory, and they change almost weekly. The largest source of debt in a kit like this is re-implementing what the harness already does. So hiway-kit leaves infrastructure (observability, delegation, hook execution) to the harness and adds only an opinionated layer on top: agents, skills and discipline. When a native feature makes a component redundant, the component is removed.
